Can you believe it? Today is December 1st. This Christmas has really snuck up on us, especially with Charlie’s birthday being in November. As I was sorting out through my phone photos today, I stumbled across some of the Christmas crafts Charlie and I did last year together. So, I thought I would write a post today with super simple Christmas craft ideas for kids.

Craft ideas for kids

1. Christmas baubles

This is a really simple idea you can make with your child from 6 months +. All it involves is a blank bauble shape (you can often buy these in packs) and glitter, glue and string. They let your child’s creativity sparkle! A great keepsake for your tree that you can bring out time and time again. Another way you could do this is cutting bauble shapes out of paper or card and following the same principles. You could even laminate to preserve it for following Christmas’. The possibilities are endless!

2. Footprint mice

This one is just too cute and can be a great gift for Grandparents, Aunties and Uncles! You either place your child’s footprint directly into paint and then place it carefully on the paper or you can paint their feet using a brush and then apply it. Then, when dry, you can add the mouse details on and put your own words or poem onto the sheet. Lovely! You can also do this same principle making a Christmas tree instead and when dry drawing tinsel onto it and a star on the top!

3. Salt dough Christmas Decorations

Now, granted this idea takes a little more time and effort than the other ones mentioned here but the results are worth it. It requires you to make salt dough. A simple salt dough recipe is:

  • 1 cup of plain flour
  • Half a cup full of table salt
  • Half a cup full of water

For the example below, I used Charlie’s hand print to make an elf shape and left a hole for the ribbon. You then have to bake it in the oven until solid. Then the fun can begin painting it into whatever shape and design you fancy.

Further inspiration

Here is further inspiration for you if none of the other ideas take your fancy. You can make snowman masks, Christmas tree decorations, your own baubles with glitter in and even a Christmas dinosaur. Have fun!

Mummy the Fibro Warrior Top Tip:

  1. Have fun creating crafts with your children this Christmas and remember these could be perfect gifts for family members that aren’t too expensive!

If there is one takeaway I’d like you all to remember today is that Christmas is a lovely time but can be stressful for some. Remember your crafts don’t have to be Instagram worthy but the main thing is that you have fun with your child and let their creativity shine. I need you to know you are doing the best you can, your child/children love you just as you are and you are Mummy the Fibro Warrior!

Until next time,

x
